Today we’re exploring the intricacies of this mini pod mod to see if it packs a punch in our VOOPOO Drag H40 Review.
We knew when we opened the box that the kit would be compact, but we were surprised by just how small it was. It fits perfectly into the palm of your hand and, although it’s wider than many pen style kits, the H40 is easily just as portable. For this test run we picked up the Green model. The main body has a sophisticated faux leather finish in a mottled British racing green which is highlighted beautifully by a shiny monochrome on the metallic sections. It comes together to create a device that exudes a modern, yet classic appeal. The kit has a cylindrical body which houses a slightly raised section dedicated to the control panel, featuring the fire button, wattage controls, and the LCD screen. The aesthetics, coupled with the feel of the device in hand give the kit a premium feel.
The Drag H40 uses VOOPOO’s PNP 2 pod system and, in the UK, comes with a 2ml tank as standard. We found that filling the pod was quite frustrating due to the way they manufacture the 2ml tanks. Instead of crafting a unique design for the smaller capacity, it appears that additional material is added to the original 5ml model to reduce its volume. This alteration, unfortunately, interferes with the displacement of air bubbles during refilling, prolonging the process and at times causing e-liquid to overflow.
However, there is a silver lining for those who find the refilling process tedious. There is a 5ml tank available that resolves the issue with the air bubbles and considerably extends the time between refills, alleviating the inconvenience posed by the smaller 2ml tank.
We tested the Drag H40 using the VOOPOO PNP-VM3 0.45 Ohm coil, paired with a 70/30 e-liquid. Having tried it on multiple wattages we found that 27w gave us the best hit, smooth but with plenty of clouds.
The H40 is compatible with all of the coils in VOOPOO’s PNP range which provides plenty of options and means there’s an option for everyone. Furthermore, we were quite impressed with the flavour profile these coils provided. It highlighted nuances and subtleties of our chosen e-liquid beautifully making for a truly enjoyable vape.
One of the standout features was the charging indicator that provides an estimated time, in minutes, until the battery reaches 100%. For instance, from an empty battery, it took 74 minutes to fully charge, and this information was conveniently displayed on the screen. This feature adds a layer of convenience, letting you plan your vaping sessions better.
The VOOPOO Drag H40, with its compact design and powerful performance, has a lot to offer. Although the design of the 2ml tank could be tweaked to facilitate easier refilling, the larger 5ml tank and the intuitive charging indicator are especially commendable. Overall, with the right setup, the Drag H40 proves to be a reliable companion for both novice and seasoned vapers.
