Last week SMKD reviewed the Freemax Galex Nano, and this week we are back to review another Freemax model. Advertised as a device producing maximum flavour, our team was dying to give the Freemax Galex Pod Kit a go. Our lucky reviewer this week is Carl, SMKD’s lead web developer, ready to try a new device that is out of this world.
The Freemax Galex is a galaxy-inspired pod kit designed to deliver the ultra mouth-to-lung experience. The kit has FM leak-resistant technology, FM SaltCoilTech 4.0, an 800mAh rechargeable battery, and is child proof. While more geared towards mouth to lung vaping, the Freemax Galex hasn’t left out direct to lung vapers as the kit includes an extra coil for a restricted direct to lung experience. One of the pod kit’s most attractive qualities is the full spectrum LEDs that show colourful lights when vaping.
Inside the box is the Freemax Galex Kit, two mesh coils including a pre-installed 1.0ohm coil suitable for MTL vaping, and a 0.8ohm coil for RDTL style vaping. Also in the box is a USB Type-C Cable, a warning card, a warranty card and a user manual.
I tested this kit alongside the Freemax Galex Nano and there were some notable differences between the devices. The Freemax Galex is a pen-shaped device that, although a little chunkier than competing brands, gives a reassuring weight and feel in the palm of the hand. I thought the Galex had a smooth finish and a good weight.
While the design is simple, the LED lights add some colour and give it an interactive experience. There are three settings for the lights; Rainbow (all the colours at once), Solid (which cycles through one colour at a time) and Off. You can choose your colour by removing and replacing the pod twice in three seconds. Having this option is a fun addition to the Galex and definitely contributes to the outer space theme.
There is another handy LED light at the bottom, which displays the battery level. Green is 70% and over, blue is 69% to 36% and Red is 35% or less. This means you don’t have to worry about your device suddenly running out of battery.
Another great quality of the Freemax Galex is that it is an easy autodraw system. I love how simple this feature is. Since there are no buttons, the Galex is safe to carry in your pocket without worrying about any painful surprises.
The Freemax Galex is a hassle free pod kit. Similar to the Nano, the Galex has a nifty refilling system that sets it apart from other devices. All you have to do is use your thumb to “snap” the top off and fill it up using the red valve. Air is released through a hole on the other side. This is great for child safety and for preventing any leakage. The cartridge doesn’t even have to be removed to refill it.
The auto draw kit does not have any options to control airflow other than holding a finger over the vents. However the Freemax Galex has a better airflow than its counterpart, which I think really improves the flavour delivery.
As a pod kit with full spectrum vaping it allowed me to vape in my preferred style, which is usually direct to lung, by simply switching the coil from the pre-installed 1.0ohm to the 0.8ohm. For someone who enjoys vaping frequently throughout the day, the battery lasts a decent amount of time. It lasts for about 4 to 5 cartridge refills before needing to be charged.
Overall, the Freemax Galex is an easy to use device with some excellent features. The child and leak resistant technology is a nice quality and I enjoyed the simplicity of the autodraw system.
The Galex provides great flavour that, just like the Nano, stays true to the taste of the E-Liquid. Some devices can alter the taste of the liquid, but with the Galex that is not a problem. In fact, the Freemax Galex gives an even more intense flavour than the Galex Nano as it has a better airflow. I found the best coil to use to produce maximum flavour is the 0.8ohm at the highest voltage.
The Freemax Galex is a great pod kit for anyone looking for a simple to use device with a stylish appearance. The easy refill system and the LED lights are unique details that give the Galex a bit of an edge. The refill system is the best characteristic in my eyes, and the intense flavour delivery is a must have for any kit.
