A new model is about to hit the shelves all the way from outer space and here at SMKD we were lucky enough to test it out. Carl, our lead web developer, is back again to give you his Freemax Galex Nano Review.
The Freemax Galex Nano is a galaxy inspired mod that is perfect for any space lover. With a futuristic appearance and the added feature of LED lights with three colour options, the Galex Nano is both a restricted direct to lung, and mouth to lung device.
Inside the box are two mesh coils (a 0.8ohm coil for a restricted direct to lung experience, and a 1.0ohm coil for mouth to lung vapers, which is already pre-installed). It also includes a USB Type-C Cable, a warranty card, a warning card and a user manual.
My first impression of the Freemax Galex Nano was that it resembled the panels on a sci-fi spaceship. The futuristic industrial appearance sets the Nano apart from other devices and the attention to detail with the design is impressive.
There are some nice details on the body, which add to the ultra-modern look, but what I was most interested in, in terms of the appearance of the Galex Nano, was the LED indicators located inside the glass panel that light up with every drag. I had fun playing around with the two light settings: Rainbow and Solid. I thought they were a nice touch as they added to the futuristic aesthetic and it was nice to have options. However I would have liked to have been able to pick just one colour rather than cycling through them all.
Overall, I was happy with the look of the Freemax Galex Nano. The device is made up of a zinc alloy, which gives it a smooth finish. I tested out the one in black, which was sleek, however, I really like the look of the gunmetal version. I like to use a lanyard as it makes the device more easily portable and, although the pod kit doesn’t come with a lanyard in the box, it does have a fixing to attach one to, which is handy. The Galex Nano is a nice weight in the hand and it is compact enough to fit in a bag or a pocket.
The pod is incredibly easy to use. I loved how simple it was to refill. You use your thumb to “snap” the top off (which is great for anyone looking for a pod with child safety features), and fill it up using the red valve. Air is pushed out through a hole on the other side. This was great for preventing leaks and spillages, which is always a pain, and you don’t even have to remove the cartridge.
As the pod kit comes with two coils, the vaping style of the Freemax Galex Nano can be changed easily by simply switching the coil from the 0.8ohm, which is more suited for a direct to lung experience, to the 1.0ohm coil, which is perfect for mouth to lung. I generally prefer direct to lung vaping and found it best to use the 0.8ohm coils on the maximum voltage.
I liked that the Galex Nano had an option to change the voltage to control the output by triple clicking on the singular button. The LED lights are used to indicate the setting (Green for high 4.5V, Blue for medium 3.5V, and Red for low 3.3V). Clicking the button once will allow you to check the battery level.
The battery lasts a decent amount of time, taking about 4 to 5 cartridge refills before running out.
Sometimes the flavour of an E-Liquid can be altered when vapourised for various reasons, often making the liquid taste burnt. However, the Freemax Galex Nano carries the flavour well and stays true to the flavour of the E-Liquid. I found using the 0.8ohm coils on maximum voltage produced the best flavour.
I would recommend this kit to anyone who enjoys a simple to use, but great-looking device. The convenient refill system provided by the pod is the best feature in my opinion and its true to flavour delivery.
