This week we have aimed high for our hardware review to give you SMKD’s take on the Aspire Flexus Q. A device built for beauty and comfort, we wondered if it would deliver on flavour and usability. Our lead web developer is back to give you an insight into the Aspire Flexus Q.
The Flexus Q is a vape pod designed as an aesthetic creation with adjustable airflow, an option between auto-draw and button activation, and three levels of power.
The box includes a Flexus Q device with a 700 mAh battery, a 2ml Flexus Q pod, a 0.6 ohm AF mesh coil, a 1.0ohm mesh coil and a 3A Type-C cable. Also inside is a user manual.
The appearance of the Aspire Flexus Q is really what caught my attention. The device is as beautiful as the brand boasts it is. It is a small, pen-shaped device with curvy metal body work that adds an air of elegance. The Flexus is weighty for its size, but to me that indicates just how well-built and durable it is. What makes the device stand out from pods with a similar design, are the hard recessed panels on the front and back. The back panel has a stylish geometric pattern that I thought was a unique aesthetic choice.
There are seven colours to choose from including; the classic black, red, gunmetal, fuschia, turquoise gradient, aquamarine gradient, and sierra blue. I really admired the red. It is a striking shade, not too bright, but not too dark. However, I chose Gunmetal, which I think is a sophisticated choice that gives the Flexus Q a premium look.
Overall, the Aspire Flexus Q achieves the beautiful aesthetic it aims for. I
When examining a devices usability, one of the first things I look for is how portable the device is. Is it handy for carrying around when you’re on the go? Due to the compact build of the Aspire Flexus Q, I was easily able to carry it in my pocket. I tend to go for kits that come with a lanyard, but the design of the Flexus Q wouldn’t have allowed for it, and it wasn’t necessary. Again, Aspire really did think of everything when it came to design.
One of the best things about the Flexus Q is that it allows the vaper to have so much control over their experience. It is a mouth to lung device that uses both an autodraw and button system. Both the airflow and wattage can be controlled. The airflow is adjusted by using a slider on the side. To adjust the wattage, the user simply has to press the fire button quickly three times. A green flash indicates high level wattage, a blue flash is mid level, and a red flash is the lowest level. With these options, the Flexus Q gives a very personalised experience.
To prevent accidental firing, the device locks after seven seconds of continuous working, which disables autodraw. To unlock the device, pull out and push in the pod once. This is a really useful feature, which paired with the child-proof filling technique, makes the Flexus Q a very safe pod.
The refilling technique isn’t difficult. Although, it can be a bit messy as air has no way to escape except through the holes you refill it from. There are two different techniques; a standard one and a childproof one. The normal technique involves removing the pod and pulling the silicone seal out and the side of the pod. You then add the e-liquid and place the pod back. I did find the Flexus Q a bit fiddly, especially trying to get the rubber bung to open. It wasn’t too hard, though, and it is to be expected with this type of kit. Those types of stoppers often wear over time, which can lead to leakages. However, their durability has definitely improved over the years.
I thought the child proof refilling technique was far simpler. I always appreciate a device with good safety features and this is definitely one of them.
Changing the coil was super easy. To replace the coil, just remove the pod, pull out the old coil and push the new coil into the pod. There were two different coils available: a 0.6 ohm mesh coil and a 1.0 ohm mesh coil. As usual, I opted for the direct to lung option.
The 700mAh battery lasts for about 3 to 4 refills, but makes up for it by charging super fast. Many kits still only charge on 1 amp but the Flexus Q charges on 3 amp. It only takes about 10 minutes for the battery to reach full charge! When I first put it on charge I had no idea about the fast charge feature. I saw that the LED was off only a short while later, I checked the power and plugged it in again.
What I like about the Aspire Flexus Q is that there are so many choices. The experience is ultra personalised because I get to control every aspect of it. As a device that is so easy to use and that has so many features, it is suitable for vapers of all preferences.
While the Flexus Q doesn’t deliver regular flavours accurately, I found that it carried dessert flavours really well. I tried Momma’s Desserts Cocoa Creamy Cookies flavour and I found the accuracy was far better. This might have something to do with the vg/pg levels as the DNA Vapes flavour I tried was 50/50 vg/pg, whereas, the Cocoa Creamy Cookies flavour had a 70/30 vg/pg ratio.
All in all I liked the Aspire Flexus Q. I thought the design was brilliant; it’s smart appearance and the way it feels in your hand make the vape pod feel deluxe. My favourite feature was the super fast charge feature. I still can’t believe it managed to charge in all of ten minutes. While the Flexus Q might not be suitable for all flavours, the dessert flavour had all the creamy decadence it was meant to. I would recommend this device to anyone who likes an elegant, premium looking vape pen that charges quickly.
We sell a wide range of Aspire devices including pod kits, tanks, replacement tanks, and coils.
